About Women With Scars

Women With Scars is a collaborative portrait and storytelling project created to honor women and the experiences that shape them — both visible and unseen.

Some scars are etched on the body. Others are carried quietly within.

From illness, surgery, motherhood, trauma, loss, survival, self-discovery, and the many moments that change us, this project creates space for stories often left unseen or unspoken.

Through portraiture and shared storytelling, Women With Scars invites participants into an experience centered around honesty, dignity, vulnerability, and human connection.

Created through a partnership between Autumn Ka’ree Photography and Betty Center, the project seeks to foster emotionally safe spaces for healing, representation, connection, and compassionate storytelling through art and shared experience.

A Healing-Centered Collaboration

Betty Center.jpg

Women With Scars was created through a collaborative partnership between Autumn Ka’ree Photography and Betty Center — a mental health and wellness organization centered around healing, emotional support, and community care.

Because many of the stories shared through this project involve grief, illness, trauma, survival, and deeply personal experiences, emotional safety and compassionate support remain central to the experience.

Betty Center continues to serve as both a collaborative partner and a grounding presence within the project’s healing-centered approach.

Continue the Conversation

Women With Scars continues to grow through shared stories, community connection, and spaces for healing, storytelling, and community connection.
